Is Alcoholism An Addiction?

Is alcoholism an addition? The obvious answer to this question is YES! Like any other trap, alcohol also traps a person making him an addict. Alcoholism addiction could be understood as a compulsive need to have alcohol that could include beer, whisky, wine or alike. Before the person would know the person would have been labeled as an alcoholic by the society or by his own family. Most of the alcoholic couldn’t accept the fact of their alcohol addiction. Alcoholics to a great extend think that they are noting more than social drinkers. They themselves don’t know when they cross of the line of being a social drinker to thrown into the vicious circle of alcohol addiction. The addiction of alcohol would have drastic disastrous effects on once life. An alcohol addiction fails to fulfil his responsibilities. He forgets about the daily commitments that he has. His professional like deteriorates, and the effects of addiction of alcohol get to interfere with his family peace.Alcoholism addiction treatment can’t be a success without the counseling and care extended to an alcoholic. Psychological support, medical care, professional counseling etc are undertaken in alcoholism addiction treatments. Detoxification followed by rehabilitation and there after taking care of the alcoholic is the normal course of any treatment. Every one knows about the social drinking, that would amount to drinking 2-3 times a quarter or in case you are a party animal it could be 1-2 times a month, depending upon your life style; provided you are not getting drunk while you are drinking labeling it as social drinking. It is alarming when a person starts to intake more than regular to get toxicant. The symptoms of alcoholism would enter in one’s life with silent steps and stays as a guest who would never wants to go. There could be obvious social symptoms, emotional symptoms and spiritual symptoms indicating one to be an alcoholic. Alcoholism Stages – 3 Stages Of Alcoholism You Should Know

Alcoholism stages can be categorized into three stages of alcoholism – early stage, middle stage and end stage alcoholism or late stage alcoholism. Alcoholism stages generally take years to develop. Alcoholism is a disease where alcoholic beverage consumption is at a level that interferes with physical or mental health, and negatively impacts social, family or occupational responsibilities.

Consuming no more than one or two drinks per day for healthy men and a drink a day for healthy non-pregnant women are generally considered acceptable alcohol consumption without health risks.
